The myths involving LED Lights are many. Some of these
rumors include:
i.
LED
lights are life lasting:
No light lasts for life. Even LED lights tend to fade with
time. Even the best maintained LED lighting fixtures only retain a little over 70
% of its primary output.
ii.
LED
produce less light:
In comparison to other lights and fixtures LED s produce a
lot more light. Usually such comparison is made on the basis of the lumen
production. This is a poor method of measuring the amount of light produced as
it does not account for the amount of light wasted due to conventional lighting
solutions.
iii.
LED is
costly:
Excepting for the initial installation cost, after
installing LED lights, the amount of money spent on maintenance, operations,
and its longevity are next to negligible. LED consumes far less electricity
than other light fixtures.
Despite these myths what needs to be seen is how HID bulbs
fare over LED Headlights.
Xenon HID headlights are gaining popularity among
motorists as the amount of light produced is almost as good as driving in
daylight. Further more in comparison to halogen lights Xenon HID lights consume
less energy and are relatively cooler in temperature. Although the main defect
remains is the glare which may affect the eyes of the driver coming from the
other direction. So these lights are energy saving and brighter than any other
light. Now the question is: Are HID lights superior to LED lights, which are
also energy saving and remain relatively cooler than other light fixtures?
Xenon HID lights give out light which comes from the
ignition of the noble gas within the bulb. In the case of LED lights the light
is formed by passing high voltage between electrodes lined in a circuit. This
circuit which is created is quite complex and hence the cost of production is
higher than that of a HID light bulb.
The main difference
lies in the cost of production of the two types. With a relatively lesser cost
margin, Xenon HID lights are getting more preference to LED lights.
Thus all that can be
said is that cars will soon see the surge of Xenon HID lights in the next
generation. And for those who do not have HID lights can get themselves Xenon
HID conversion kit and become at par with the world’s latest lighting in cars.
They are the new lights in town! So shine on!
